Warming trend begins Friday in Portland. When will the heat peak?
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- June is expected to end warm as clearing skies and more sunshine start to take shape across western Oregon and southwest Washington this weekend.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected to remain across the greater Portland/Vancouver area on Friday. Summer heat will quickly build across the region on Saturday and Sunday. Dry and sunny skies will push Willamette Valley temperatures close to 90 degrees by the end of the weekend.
The peak of the heat is expected on the final day of June. Temperatures are expected to remain above average for the start of July, but still remain in the low to mid-80s. Slightly warmer conditions are possible by the Fourth of July.
For those spending time outside this weekend, remember to take care of yourself and others. Summer heat will ramp up on Sunday so taking frequent breaks indoors is a must. Wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothing while staying hydrated will help reduce the risk of heat-related illness.
Dry skies are expected to add up again across the Pacific Northwest. That's where temperatures will continue to warm above the average of the upper 70s.
