Terrifying Footage Shows Helicopter Crash Near Restaurant
Imagine sipping a cocktail at a lakeside bar when a helicopter attempts a landing within feet of your table. So, you break out your phone to record the experience when, out of nowhere, pandemonium ensues.
That's what happened Sunday afternoon just steps outside of Cabana Blue Lakefront Sports Bar & Grill in Clay Township, MI, where a helicopter carrying four people on board attempted to make a landing before spiraling out of control.
The footage, taken by the restaurant owner, Joseth Henninger and shared on social media, shows the moment the helicopter attempts to land. The chopper hovers within feet above the ground, but soon it's obvious the helicopter is under some kind of duress.

The terrifying footage then shows the helicopter flip forward before the blades pound the ground and break. According to the Port Huron Times Herald, the Clay Township Police Department responded within minutes of the crash. Authorities also say that the four people on board were treated on scene for minor injuries.
“They had called in ahead of time, and our hostess had said we got a lot of debris in the field out there," the restaurant owner said, via the Detroit Free Press. "(The pilot) said, ‘That's alright, if it's not good he won't land.’ And he came in and looked like he found a spot he liked.”
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
