M3GAN 2.0 is nearly here!

Everyone’s favorite murderous doll is back in the highly anticipated sequel, which officially hits theaters June 27.

The sequel to 2023′s hit horror film is set two years after the first film and features Allison Williams reprising her role as Gemma, the creator of M3GAN. Unfortunately for Gemma, the advanced A.I. technology she created for M3GAN was stolen and is being used for a powerful new tool known as Amelia.

Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno) has gone rogue. In order to stop Amelia from wiping out humanity, Gemma realizes she only has one option: bring back M3GAN. This time around, Gemma gives her A.I. doll some serious upgrades that maker her faster and stronger, but is she any match for Amelia?

Critics who scored an advance screening of the movie have already begun weighing in online with their thoughts. Wondering what people are saying about the film?

Keep reading to find out…

The Daily Beast says it’s “shockingly bad”: “Switching genres in a futile effort to justify the series’ continued existence, this misbegotten creation is a leaden and aimless bit of cinematic malware—not to mention the most convoluted 2025 theatrical release to date.”

Digital Spy says: ” Wile there’s fun to be had with M3GAN turning from a killer into a sassy killer quip machine, it proves a significant downgrade on the original.”

Awards Watch gave it a C+, writing: “M3GAN 2.0 doesn’t seem to know what its audience wants. Or perhaps it’s so preoccupied with trying to mash, rebuild, and reconstruct itself into an all-appealing, desperate-to-please product that it loses the sense of authenticity and almost-accidental perverse brilliance that made the first film so impactful.”

Variety says: “M3GAN 2.0 is amusing at moments, overblown at others. Here’s hoping that M3GAN 3.0 is brasher, funkier, crazier.”

IGN says: “M3GAN 2.0 is admirable in its attempts to broaden the franchise’s horizons, and it finds some success in forcing the characters to work together against common enemy AMELIA. Jenna Davis and Amie Donald’s joint performance as M3GAN unsurprisingly steals the show once again, but Allison Williams and Violet McGraw hold down the human side of the story well.”

Bloody Disgusting says: “The switch from horror to action sci-fi with a few horror-coded scenes surprisingly comes with a higher body count, and Johnstone navigates deftly around that PG-13 rating with a few bursts of inspired violence. It all makes for great summer escapism fun, even if it’s messy. It ultimately succeeds where it matters most: M3GAN never loses her edge in her infectious journey from villain to hero.”
