Ex-State Dept. official thinks Trump deserves Nobel Peace Prize for bombing Iran
A former official with the U.S. State Department said on Monday that President Donald Trump deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize for his decision to bomb three nuclear facilities in Iran over the weekend.
Ellie Cohanim, who served as Trump's deputy special envoy to combat antisemitism in his first term, made the comments on Fox News' daily show, "America Reports with Sandra Smith and John Roberts.
"I would say that the United States, Israel, the Middle East, and truly the entire world are safer now than we were just a week ago," Cohanim said. "President Trump's historic attack on Iran's nuclear sites, taking away that radical regime's nuclear program, obliterating it from history, has truly changed the course of history, and we are all safer for it. I've said he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for it."
The comments come just a few days after Trump lamented during a press conference in New Jersey that he would "never win a Nobel Peace Prize."
"They would never give me a [Nobel] Peace Prize," Trump said at the news conference. "They only give it to liberals."
Cohanim added that Iran still has to "concede to U.S. demands" to end the war with Israel. Those demands include giving up its nuclear arsenal and potentially replacing the country's leadership.
“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!” Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social.
