How to keep cool in Columbus as temperatures soar
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- With temperatures in the 90s and little relief in sight, Columbus is taking measures to ensure residents keep cool during the hottest hours of the day.
Starting Tuesday, cooling centers will open at five community centers across the city:
- Dodge Community Center, 667 Sullivant Ave.
- Driving Park Community Center, 1100 Rhoads Ave.
- Glenwood Community Center, 1880 Fairmont Ave.
- Linden Community Center, 1350 Briarwood Ave.
- Marion Franklin Community Center, 2801 Lockbourne Road
The centers will be open from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
The city's public pools will also be open from 1-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, with admission costing $1. However, keep in mind that cash will no longer be accepted for entry -- cash or electronic payment only.
The Columbus Metropolitan Library branches can also serve as cooling centers when the temperatures soar. For locations and hours, click here.
