Polling underway in 3,894 gram panchayats in Gujarat

Gujarat held gram panchayat elections for 3,894 seats, marking the first such event after the state implemented a 27% reservation for OBCs in local bodies. Approximately 81 lakh voters were eligible to elect sarpanchs and panchayat members across 10,479 polling stations. While polling remained largely peaceful, a few violent incidents were reported, and vote counting is scheduled for June 25.
