Blackhawks place T.J. Brodie on waivers, eye $7.5M contract buyout

Chicago Blackhawks are releasing veteran defenseman T.J. Brodie. The team placed him on waivers. They plan to buy out the final year of his contract. Brodie previously played for Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames. He signed with Chicago last offseason. If bought out, the Blackhawks will face cap charges in future seasons. Brodie's performance this season was underwhelming.
