Here's the Plot and July Release Date For a Brand-New 'Reacher' Story
While Season 4 of the Prime Video TV series Reacher has just started filming, the adventures of Jack Reacher are still continuing in the various books written by Lee Child, and more recently, by his brother, Andrew Child. And, if you're a hardcore Reacher fan, and you've seen all three seasons of the show, and read every single book, there is a new Reacher adventure coming very, very soon.
On July 15, 2025, Blackstone Publishing is releasing a new anthology of short mystery stories by a variety of authors. The book is called Bat Out of Hell, and yes, it's inspired by the song of the same name by rock legend Meat Loaf. Authors of the various stories include: Rick Bleiweiss, Heather Graham, John Gilstrap, Dave Bruns, C. J. Kudlacz, Charles Todd, and edited by Don Bruns. But the title story, "Bat Out of Hell," is written by Andrew Child and is an official standalone Jack Reacher story!

Here's the official synopsis from the publisher:
"In the new Jack Reacher story, titled Bat Out of Hell, Reacher is in a small town in New Mexico when he meets a woman named Blythe who is on the run from a group of bikers after she threatened to expose their illegal business. Reacher notices her hiding in a diner bathroom when he's having dinner. After protecting Blythe from harm at the diner, Reacher ends up involved in an investigation to save Blythe and uncover the crimes of the bikers."
This new Reacher short story is actually just one of two Reacher-related books out this year. On November 4, 2025, Exit Strategy will be published. It is penned by Andrew Child and Lee Child and will be the 30th Reacher book overall.
Bat Out of Hell will be available on July 15 in hardcover, paperback, as an eBook, and an audiobook.
