Customs intercept 25kg of methamphetamine worth $7.5 million at Auckland Airport
Customs officers at Auckland Airport intercepted a bag containing 25 kg of methamphetamine arriving from San Francisco on June 14. Border partners flagged inconsistencies in x-ray imaging, leading to the discovery of the vacuum-sealed package. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $7.5 million. Chief Customs Officer Tracy Henderson said that if the package of the illicit drug had managed to cross the border, it could have led to a potential harm and cost to New Zealand of around $26 million.
