The National Weather Service issues Alaska's first ever heat advisory

0
The first ever heat advisory has been issued in the state of Alaska. The National Weather Service is warning that temperatures could hit 85 degrees in the Fairbanks area on Sunday. The agency only recently started allowing for heat advisories to be issued in the state, replacing “special weather statements.” The main reason is to change how the information is received by the public. The Juneau and Fairbanks weather service offices have been allowed to issue heat advisories beginning this summer, but not the office in the state’s largest city. The office in Anchorage, the state's largest city, is working on a plan to issue such warnings in the future.
