Families file suit challenging Arkansas law that requires Ten Commandments be posted in classrooms

Seven families have filed a lawsuit challenging Arkansas' requirement that public school classrooms display the Ten Commandments. The families filed the lawsuit Wednesday in federal court challenging the law, which is set to take effect in August. The law was signed in April by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. It mirrors a similar law enacted in Louisiana and another measure that Texas' governor has said he'll sign. The lawsuit says the requirements violates the families' First Amendment rights by endorsing a religious viewpoint. Attorneys say they'll seek a preliminary injunction blocking the law's enforcement.
