North Adams man sentenced for raping 3-year-old

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (NEWS10) -- A North Adams man has been sentenced to 18 to 20 years in state prison for raping a 3-year-old, according to the Berkshire County Attorney's Office on Wednesday. Austin Miller-Robinson, 29, was found guilty of multiple charges on June 4.

Miller-Robinson reportedly raped the child on July 4, 2019, when he was 23 years old. A jury found him guilty of aggravated rape of a child with force and rape and abuse of a child aggravated by age difference, according to the DA's Office.

District Attorney Timothy Shugrue had reportedly requested that the crimes receive their maximum sentences and be served consecutively. According to the DA, the aggravated rape charge carried a minimum sentence of 15 years and the rape and abuse charge carried a minimum sentence of 10 years.

"While the sentence is less than my request, and the criminal penalties are to be served concurrently, the 18-to-20-year sentence is substantial," Shugrue said on Wednesday. "Today is a good day for the children in the Berkshires."
