Alexandra School rewards athlete with billboard
Barbados’ 2025 CARIFTA Games’ bronze medallist Aaron Morris not only had a billboard unveiled in his honour at his alma mater, the Alexandra School yesterday but he has secured an athletics scholarship at the University of Oklahoma in the United States.
Morris captured bronze in the Under-20 Boys’ 800 metres in Trinidad and Tobago clocking 1:51.90 minutes in close race won by Jamaican Shavan Jarrett, with Grenadian D’Angelo Brown, second. He followed in the footsteps of schoolmate Ashlyn Simmons, who also has a billboard with her image at the main entrance of the St Peter school after her capture of CARIFTA gold in 2023 in the Under-17 Girls’ 1 500 metres.
In a short ceremony attended by his parents, Arlette Jordan and Raymond Morris, members of staff and some of the school’s junior students, chairman of the school’s board Michael Watson, praised the 18-year-old.
“On behalf of the board of management of the school, we want to extend to you and your other CARIFTA colleagues our heartiest congratulations on what can only be described as Herculean achievements.
