Fabrizio Romano reveals latest on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham future amid sack reports

0

Amidst ongoing speculation that Tottenham Hotspur have already decided to sack Ange Postecoglou, Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal what he has heard about the Australian’s future in North London.

More than a week on from the end of the 2024/25 season, there has been no communication from Spurs about their current managerial situation.

On Sunday, it was reported by Football Insider that Daniel Levy had already decided to part ways with Postecoglou even though the club have not officially communicated the decision.

The outlet claimed the Tottenham hierarchy are waiting for the emotions of the Europa League win to subside, with their decision over Postecoglou’s future expected to be announced over the coming days.

Ange Postecoglou is awaiting a decision over his future

Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media platform X to dismiss suggestions that Ange Postecoglou has already been sacked, claiming that a final decision on the 59-year-old’s future is yet to be made.

The journalist claimed that Levy is expected to take a final call on Postecoglou over the next few days, with the former Celtic boss’s future “still open”.

Romano also backs up what we have heard from countless sources over recent weeks by naming Thomas Frank and Marco Silva among the leading contenders to replace Postecoglou at Spurs.

Tottenham fans appear to be divided over Postecoglou

Looking at social media, it is clear that there are a lot of Tottenham fans who are very upset with the idea that a manager can be sacked after delivering the club’s first major trophy in 17 years.

Daniel Levy will only become even more unpopular if he sacks Postecoglou, but the Spurs chairman is not in an enviable position as he will also be criticised if he keeps the Aussie coach and the club’s league form fails to improve at the start of next season.

Postecoglou has two years left on his contract having joined Tottenham from Celtic prior to the start of the 2023/24 season.
