Tiki the Dog's Foster Mom Isabel Klee Explains Why She's Not Adopting Him, Despite Their Incredible Bond

Isabel Klee‘s TikTok page has become a heartwarming source of joy for millions of fans over the past three and a half weeks.

The New York City-based writer is a foster mom for dogs in her free time and she recently has been documenting her journey with an extremely fearful shutdown foster dog named Tiki.

When Isabel welcomed Tiki into her home less than a month ago, he was too scared to leave his crate and wouldn’t let anyone near him. Just weeks later, he is jumping on the bed and cuddling with his foster parents.

Millions of people have been watching Isabel‘s daily updates about Tiki‘s journey and fans have been voicing their opinion that she needs to adopt the dog. Well, she’s not going to be and she has a good reason.

In an interview with NBC News, Isabel said, “That is the question that I get on every single video and I completely understand people’s point of view. It would really be a fairytale story for me to adopt Tiki, but that’s just simply not what I do. I foster dogs and I fostered so many. I think Tiki is number 25. I would rather foster this dog and rehabilitate him and find him the perfect family and then save the next one to continue inspiring people to foster and adopt.”

Isabel says that Tiki will be ready to adopt in the next few weeks.

“I keep in touch with most of my previous fosters. Literally every day, I text at least two of them,” Isabel told People. “They send me photos all the time. So it’s really up to the adopter if they want to stay in touch — but most people find my dogs through my page, and they usually do.”

“That’s what makes me the happiest,” she added. “I love getting updates. I just got one this morning from a former foster’s family. So I’m really hoping that whoever adopts Tiki will stay in close contact, too.”
