BERKELEY — A man has been charged with exposing himself in public, resisting the Berkeley officer who arrested him, then doing it all again in Albany after his release from jail.

Lazjohn Downs, 30, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure and one count of felony resisting arrest in the April 25 incident in Berkeley, and with one count of misdemeanor indecent exposure and one count of felony resisting arrest in the May 8 incident in Albany, court records show.

Police say they’re also investigating an incident where a man matching Downs’ description allegedly grabbed a woman who was walking by on the sidewalk.

Downs was arrested in the first incident, and released from jail four days later, court records show. He was released again after the May 8 arrest, according to court records.

In the Berkeley incident, he allegedly pleasured himself outside a coffee shop, then fought the officers who came to arrest him. Police found a suspected methamphetamine pipe in his possession, according to court records.

In the Albany incident, police say they responded to a report of a suspicious person on Spokane Avenue and found Downs with his hand down his pants. He ran from the police when they arrived, authorities said.
