Bear cub rescued on Hunter Mountain released back into wild
HUNTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An orphaned, malnourished bear was found at the base of Hunter Mountain in March and taken in by Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center. The FFF Wildlife Center announced on Thursday that the little guy was released.
The Hunter Mountain bear was extremely underweight when he was found by FFF Wildlife Center. The center said he did, however, gain enough weight to be released back into the wild in just 60 days.
Another bear, known as the Margaretville bear to the wildlife center, was also released after being rescued in late 2024. She was captured after two weeks of being seen looking for food and rehabilitated, much like the Hunter Mountain bear.
