Residents dig out from tornado damage after storms kill 28 in Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia
Residents in Kentucky and Missouri are digging through tornado-stricken neighborhoods and clearing debris after severe storms swept through parts of the Midwest and South and left more than two dozen people dead. Kentucky was hardest hit in the storm system that began Friday. A devastating tornado damaged hundreds of homes, tossed vehicles and left many people homeless. By Sunday, state officials said at least 19 people in Kentucky had died. In St. Louis, city officials say five people died and thousands of homes were damaged. Residents remained on edge with more severe weather predicted across the nation’s midsection with heavy rains, thunderstorms and possibly the possibility of more tornadoes.
