Residents dig out from tornado damage after storms kill 27 in Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia

Residents in Kentucky and Missouri are digging through tornado-stricken neighborhoods and clearing debris after severe storms swept through parts of the Midwest and South and left more than two dozen people dead. Kentucky was hardest hit in the storm system that began Friday. A devastating tornado damaged hundreds of homes, tossed vehicles and left many people homeless. At least 18 people were killed in the state. In St. Louis, city officials sayfive people died and thousands of homes were damaged.
