APD: 1 dead in homicide at Mueller-area apartment complex

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said one person died in a homicide at an apartment complex in the Mueller area in east Austin late Sunday night.

APD posted on social media that the investigation occurred in the 2700 block of Philomena Street. That's near Tilley Street.

According to Public Information Officer Jeremy Fisher, at about 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a call at The Jordan at Mueller apartment complex.

When they arrived, they found a female victim showing "obvious signs of physical trauma." She was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead, Fisher said.

Fisher said multiple witnesses stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

This is being recorded as Austin's 21st homicide of the year, Fisher added.
