LSG suffered 54-run defeat to MI

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) slumped to a comprehensive 54-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday in IPL 2025. This was a major blow to LSG’s playoff hopes as it saw their net run-rate take a massive hit while MI climbed to the third spot on the table with 12 points.

Pant was dismissed for just 4 runs

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant continued his poor form in the tournament and lost his wicket after scoring just 4 runs. In the 10 matches he has played so far this season, Pant has only been able to score 110 runs at a dismal average of 12.22.

BCCI imposed a INR 24 lakh fine on Pant for maintaining a slow over-rate

This was Pant’s second slow over-rate offense in the ongoing IPL season and thus, he was fined INR 24 lakh by the BCCI. “As this was his team’s second offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs,” the IPL said in a release.

Pant is the second captain to be fined for a 2nd time this season

With his offense against the Mumbai Indians, Pant became only the second captain after Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson to be fined for a second time this season for maintaining a slow over-rate.

All LSG players will have to pay the fine to BCCI

All of the players present in LSG team including the Impact Players will have to pay a fine of INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fee to the BCCI for their side’s second slow over-rate offense of the ongoing season.

Mumbai Indians record their fifth consecutive win

On the other hand, MI look to be in absolutely fine form as they recorded their fifth straight victory in the ongoing IPL season and also improved their net run-rate by a great margin.
