Here’s a synopsis: The Thursday Murder Club follows four irrepressible retirees – Elizabeth (Mirren), Ron (Brosnan), Ibrahim and Joyce – who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.
Also featured in the first look photos are their co-stars, Celia Imrie as Joyce, Sir Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim, Naomi Ackie and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
“There was a sense of, ‘Gosh, guys, isn’t this amazing?’” Helen told People of being on set of the movie. “‘Here we all are again. How fantastic it is.’ It was a very appropriate feeling for the piece as well, the way these people, these characters come together in all their idiosyncrasies.”
She also shared that she manifested this role after reading the book years ago!
“I sort of went, ‘Oh, if they ever make a movie of it, I’d love to play that role.’ And I very, very rarely feel that, but I have to confess, I did feel that this time,” she said.
The Thursday Murder Club is directed by Chris Columbus and will debut on Netflix on August 28th!
You can also currently catch Helen and Pierce in the Paramount+ series Mobland, alongside Tom Hardy. New episodes drop every Sunday.
