‘I know what’s coming’: Eubank and Benn offer final words before weekend showdown

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn meet for a final press conference before they let the fists fly this Saturday.

Today promoters held the final press conference before this weekend’s British showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn. As you might expect, if you’ve watched any of these press events thus far, Eubank Jr spent a fair amount of time making sure no representatives from Matchroom could get a word in edgewise.

But when it was finally Eubank’s time to address the public, he made it clear he’s feeling comfortable as he heads into the fight.

“I know what’s coming. I’ve prepared my whole life for these moments. I’ve put the time in. I’ve dedicated decades to the sport and I’ve done it all without cheating, without cutting any corners, and I’m proud of that,” Eubank Jr said. “The mentality I have, the experience I have, the fortitude and the will is what I will be using on the night to take out my adversary in Conor Benn.”

Benn would then be asked about controlling his emotions as he prepares for this fight.

“This is what I do. I love this game, this is what I live for. This is every fighter’s dream when they turn professional, to live this life. There’s no more pressure than a 19-year-old kid with no amateur experience walking out into a packed O2 Arena. That’s pressure. I’ve been doing this for 10 years, more than prepared, I’m more than ready.”
