‘SNL’ Writer Reacts to Morgan Wallen’s Walk Off With 1 Telling Photo
Morgan Wallen made headlines over the weekend after he walked off the stage at Saturday Night Live! The country music star left some viewers baffled with his abrupt exit — and his subsequent social media post.
Wallen took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of a private jet with the caption, "Get me to God's country."
On March 30, SNL writer Josh Patten took to his Instagram Stories to react. He uploaded a photo of a Krispy Kreme box truck and included the same five word caption, clearly poking fun at Wallen's time on SNL.
The move came on the heels of a report that Wallen's exit was actually pre-planned — and that the cast and crew was were well aware that Wallen was going to walk off set.
"Sources in Wallen’s camp say there’s nothing to the conjecture that the singer was signaling tension, maintaining that he had a good time and no slight was intended with either his prominent exit or his Instagram post," Variety reported.
"No slight was intended, and the buzz misreads the star just being off-the-cuff as usual," the outlet's report continued.
Sources also told Variety that Wallen actually rehearsed his Irish Goodbye prior to the live show. Despite viewers wondering what happened or dragging Wallen for leaving the show in such a non-traditional way, it turns out that it was all part of the plan.
Wallen hasn't returned to Instagram since his private jet post.
