Atlanta teacher's body found a month after he disappeared on a Georgia lake, sheriff says
A sheriff says the body of an Atlanta teacher and coach who vanished last month on Georgia's Lake Oconee while boating with his fiancee has been found. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Gary Jones’ body was found Sunday afternoon in about 45 feet of water. Jones and his fiancee went missing Feb. 8. The discovery was made not far from where the body of Jones’ fiancee, Spelman College instructor Joycelyn Wilson, was found a day after their small boat was found empty and circling the lake. Jones was a teacher and the track and field coach at the Westminster Schools, an exclusive Atlanta private school community.
