San Carlos Apache teenager's death reverberates throughout Indian Country
A San Carlos Apache teen who was reported missing and then found dead marks one of the latest tragedies as Native American communities continue to grapple with the epidemic of people being killed or going missing at high rates. Memorials, prayer vigils and remembrances are being planned in Arizona and elsewhere around the U.S. for Emily Pike. The 14-year-old girl went missing in late January after leaving a group home where she had been staying in Mesa. Her mother has said she wasn't informed that her daughter was missing until a week later. Authorities identified the girl's remains in late February on a forest road in a neighboring county. Pike's death remains under investigation.
