New FBI deputy head warns ‘Big Brother is watching’ while hawking service to fight it

Far-right podcaster Dan Bongino may have landed a top job as the FBI’s No. 2 in charge, but he’s still not ready to end his conspiracy theory-driven show – or ditch his MAGAfied slate of sponsors just yet.

Bongino, who President Donald Trump recently elevated from a former U.S. Secret Service agent turned MAGA influencer – to deputy director of the FBI – announced that he would continue as host of his podcast until March 14, MotherJones reported Thursday.

He has made a name plugging various products to his followers – from “the country’s only Christian wireless provider,” to an online pharmacy hawking “ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, emergency antibiotics, or other essential medications,” according to MotherJones.

And “he’s not done yet,” the publication added.

“We can’t just walk away tomorrow from business partners we had contracts with and say, ‘Hey, see ya,’” Bongino said on his show the day after accepting Trump’s job offer.

So the sales have continued. Even as he launched into an emotional explanation of his decision to join the FBI – saying he couldn’t “sit on my a-- when an opportunity comes to do the right thing” – he pivoted to the company he trusts “to help you diversify into physical gold is Birch Gold,” MotherJones pointed out.

Bongino this week shared a sponsor message warning about "Big Brother" spying on people, an eyebrow-raising statement given his new role.

“Big Brother is watching you,” he said, according to the report. Bongino said it's been 10 years the National Security Agency was caught spying on Americans’ communications.

“Well, what if I told you there’s a way to get your freedom back?” Bongino added. “Thankfully, there is. It’s a product called ExpressVPN [which] routes 100 percent of internet activity through encrypted channels… So if you want to protect yourself from corporate and government spying, go to expressvpn.com/Bongino and get four extra months of privacy for free.”

MotherJones also noted that Bongino introduced a “new production company,” which his wife – the longtime producer of his show – will serve as president. He said of the arraignment that federal ethics rules would be fully complied with: “It’s going to be divorced from me."

“Federal law bars government employees from working on government matters affecting their own personal financial interests, which include the interests of a spouse,” MotherJones said.

“The bottom line is public officials should be looking out for the interests of voters, not their own financial interests,” Kedric Payne, ethics director at the Campaign Legal Center, a watchdog group, told the publication. He believes the media company could still cause ethics issues for Bongino and potentially reduce public confidence in the FBI.
