During their search for answers, the police team encounter Phil Bainbridge.

Tom Lister, who played Phil, is a very recognisable face to long-time Emmerdale fans.

The 46-year-old portrayed notorious villain Carl King in the ITV soap.

Appearing from 2004 to 2012, viewers learned Carl murdered his own father Tom King Sr (Kenneth Farrington).

The villain also attempted to rape one-time fiancee Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).

Carl ultimately died in Emmerdale‘s live 40th Anniversary episode in 2012.

He met his end at the hands of love rival Cameron Murray (Dominic Power), who hit him with a brick.

Taking to social media, The Bay viewers immediately recognised Tom over a decade on from his brutal soap exit.

One wrote on X: “Good God! Carl King from Emmerdale.

Always wondered where he went. #TheBay.”

Another penned: “I’m sure he was in Emmerdale #TheBay.”

While a third chimed in: “No matter what, Tom, you’ll always be Carl King to me.

“But boy, you sure do rock the distinguishing look as Bill Bainbridge #TheBay”.

A fourth simply remarked: “I thought it was Tom.”
