Border czar makes the city of Boston his latest immigration target
Donald Trump’s border czar has turned his anger over illegal immigration to Boston. He denigrated the police commissioner and suggested that the so-called sanctuary city is holding onto hardened criminals, rather than handing them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is pushing back — she called his comments “clueless." The Boston Trust Act, enacted more than a decade ago, allows police to work with ICE only on “issues of significant public safety, such as human trafficking, child exploitation, drug and weapons trafficking, and cybercrimes.” The state’s highest court forbids authorities from holding people solely for immigration reasons when they're otherwise entitled to release.
