Woman fatally shot at River North hotel identified
A woman who was fatally shot at a River North hotel Saturday night has been identified.
About 8:15 p.m., Kenliada Maressa Porter, 32, was found in a room on the 30th floor of the hotel at 369 W. Grand Ave. with gunshot wounds to her back and right shoulder, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Porter, of East Moline, was taken to Northwestern, where she was pronounced dead at 10:07 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.
A Sunday autopsy determined Porter, of East Moline, died of a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a homicide
Before finding Porter, officers initially responded to a call of a shooting at the hotel and found a 29-year-old woman shot in the neck in the lobby of the building, according to police and an incident report.
That woman was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and listed in good condition, police said.
No arrests have been announced but police were seeking a 35-year-old Iowa man with an extensive criminal background in the attack.
Area 3 detectives are investigating.
