A Sudan military plane crashes, killing at least 19 people
Sudanese officials say a military aircraft crashed, killing at least 19 people. The Antonov aircraft crashed Tuesday while taking off from an airbase north of Omdurman, the sister city of the capital, Khartoum. The military said both military personnel and civilians died but didn't say what caused the crash. The health ministry said five other civilians were injured. Sudan has been in a state of civil war since 2023 when tensions between the military and a notorious paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces, exploded into open warfare.
