Anhydrous ammonia tanker rollover closes US Highway 56 near Herington

HERINGTON, Kan. (KSNW) - U.S. Highway 56 is closed between Herington and the Kansas 149 junction.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says that shortly after 9 a.m., a truck hauling anhydrous ammonia overturned on the highway near Delavan and is currently blocking both lanes of traffic. The patrol says nothing leaked from the tank, and another tanker is on the scene safely transferring the ammonia so that the overturned tanker can be removed from the road.
KHP tells KSN News the road will remain closed for several more hours. Traffic is being diverted north to Kansas Highway 4 at U.S. Highway 77 and Kansas Highway 149.
No serious injuries have been reported.
