Readers of 'The New Yorker' Must Buy This Spot-On New Timex
If you’re a fan of the magazine, or at least their tote bags, you’re going to love this. In honor of the iconic weekly’s 100th anniversary, The New Yorker has partnered with Timex to create a limited-edition watch celebrating the publication’s influence as a cultural touchstone.

The Timex | The New Yorker is a reissue of the watchmaker’s ‘60s Marlin hand-wound piece, a classic in its own right. But obviously what makes this version unique is the stunning white dial adorned with a cityscape in the style of the the magazine’s famed "Goings On" section penned by Christoph Niemann, a distinguished illustrator whose work has appeared in The New Yorker since 1998. The dial is also signed both with the magazine’s name and the Timex’s moniker. A surprising and amusing detail, the seconds hand features a bagel as a totem of New York City’s culinary heritage (and what one nosh on while reading the reviews.)
The brushed and polished, stainless steel, 34mm case is versatile but might skew a little small on large wrists. Inside beats a manual wound Seagull TY6DSK-1 with a power reserve of around 35 hours. With an acrylic crystal covering the dial the Marlin is water resistant to 30 meters. On the back the watch is engraved with the piece’s limited edition number of the 1,854 pieces to be sold (1854 was the year Timex was founded,) and the magazine’s centennial anniversary logo.

The limited edition comes on a sustainably tanned, natural leather band with quick release spring bars as well as an additional NATO style double layer slip-thru fabric strap, perfect for warmer months.
Unfortunately, the watch doesn’t come with a magazine subscription ala the tote bag. Instead, it’s available now at timex.com for $249.
