“It’s a celebration of an entire industry and people from every walk of life who give their blood, sweat and tears for show business. I don’t want to let America down,” he told People in a recent interview.
The talk show host also talked about his signature look, adding that he will need hair products to maintain his “iconic hair swoop.”
“If I walk out there with floppy bangs, I think you’re going to see the stock market crash,” he joked.
Conan also acknowledged the deep responsibility that comes with hosting the Oscars.
“There’s no such thing as getting to a point professionally where there are no nerves if you’re working in comedy. I am very aware that it’s an iconic show and can be tricky… I like to meet a challenge,” he said.
However, he also said he plans to keep things entertaining.
“If I think something could be funny. I will do it to my own detriment,” he said.
The 97th annual Academy Awards will air Sunday (March 2) and a slew of A-listers will have been recently announced as presenters.
