Record-breaking cold temperatures stick around

0

What We’re Tracking

  • Decreasing clouds this evening
  • Extreme cold this week
  • Big time warmup

Temperatures have fallen to just below zero with a continued northerly breeze at 10-15mph. Wind chills are -15° to -20° this morning. Cloud cover stubbornly hangs on, but will decrease later this evening.

We will be done with the storm system, but it will take until this weekend for the cold air to finally retreat. Temperatures bottom out between -10° to -15° Thursday morning before the cold air begins its retreat. Wind chills may even dip into the -20s to near -30° early Thursday.

Once that cold air moves east, temperatures warm back up by the weekend. We should continue that warming trend into next week, as well. In fact, temperatures should climb into the upper 40s by Sunday with lower 60s possible early next week!
