But is Rob really dead?[/caption]

The cold-blooded killer great escape took a deadly twist in Monday’s gripping episode of Coronation Street.

He held his sister Carla Connor (Alison King) at gunpoint in a abandoned factory and brutally attacked DCI Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

Summoning every ounce of strength, Carla charged at him, shoving him hard.

He teetered for a moment before tumbling over the stairwell, landing with a sickening thud below.

Rob was left motionless on the floor as a horrified Carla looked on.

A battered but very much alive Lisa then staggered onto the scene and confirmed he had no pulse as the soap continued on Tuesday.

DI Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) arrived on the scene and helped Lisa get a shaken and weak Carla to the hospital.

Lisa persuaded Kit to leave Rob behind, believing he was dead with no pulse – and he hesitantly agreed.

However, when Craig (Colson Smith) and the police arrived at the abandoned factory, Rob’s body was nowhere to be found.

Craig later informed a shocked Kit that Rob was very much alive and on the run in a stolen car.

With the police searching for him, is it only a matter of time before he’s caught?

Meanwhile, Carla’s life hangs in the balance as doctors confirm she has developed an infection, putting her new kidney at risk of failure -leaving her loved ones devastated.

Elsewhere, Lisa faces questioning over Rob’s escape and is accused of helping him.

Later, she breaks the news to a guilt-ridden Carla that Rob is still alive and on the run.

Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

Colson Smith – Craig Tinker

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.

Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw

After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.

Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe

Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.

Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster

In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley

The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.

Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe

The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

While Carla is relieved she hasn’t committed murder, she fears for Lisa and Betsy’s safety in case Rob returns.

Lisa reassures her, insisting he isn’t foolish enough to come back – but is she right?

At the end of the episode, a desperate Rob secretly texts his son Bobby, who is still in Weatherfield, asking for help.

But will Bobby comply?

Meanwhile, Corrie fans have slammed Rob Donovan’s balcony fall as the “most ridiculous accident in soap history”.

Rob bounced off the wall and appeared to do a summersault over the stairwell in a bizarre stunt.

ITV viewers could not believe their eyes and have taken to social media in their droves to share their amusement at the scene.

One fan shared a clip of the moment Rob fell and wrote: “And people slagged off EastEnders Kojo’s stunt of falling down the stairs, this from Coronation Street tops it.”

A second posted a clip of a man throwing a ball at the wall and quipped: “Rob bounces off the wall in Corrie.”

A third hilariously wrote: “Let me get this straight… Carla pushes Rob, he stumbles into the wall and then, quite acrobatically, launches himself off the stairs… Get Rob done for diving please ref.”

“I was wondering if that wall was made of rubber. That was the most unnatural move I’ve seen in a while,” a fourth commented.

This person said: “Can someone please check on Rob, after getting pushed down some stairs and banging into the wall, I heard he’s doing some back flips.”

“Wtf have I just watched he practically threw himself over I’m crying,” this viewer posted.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
