Mystery after body of man in his 20s found on popular beach
The body of a man in his 20s has been found on a beach in Blackpool.
Emergency services made the discovery at the popular seaside resort’s North Promenade early on Saturday.
The male was declared dead at the scene.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and the coroner has been informed.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ‘We received a report of a body being found on the beach in Blackpool, near to the North Promenade, at 7.09am on Saturday morning.
‘Our officers, along with other emergency service colleagues attended, and very sadly, a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.’
It comes after another body was found near a sewage outlet in the search for a missing woman in Cornwall.
Colette Marshall, 44, from Perranporth, was last seen on February 1.
Police had released two photos of her in a bid to try and trace her, but they confirmed on Saturday that a body had been found ‘just off the sewage outlet at Drozskyn’ near Perranporth.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘A body has been located in the search for 44-year-old Colette Marshall who had been reported missing from Perranporth.
‘A body was discovered along the coastline in the Perranporth area Saturday 8 February.
‘Formal identification has yet to take place.
‘The family of Colette have been informed of the discovery.
‘A file will be prepared for the coroner.’
