Happy Greek in the Short North closes after 20 years
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Happy Greek, a traditional Greek restaurant in Columbus' Short North district, has closed after 20 years in business.
Located at 660 N. High St., the eatery announced the closure on social media and welcomed patrons for the last time on Saturday. The family-owned restaurant said, despite efforts to renew their lease, the Happy Greek was "unable to reach an agreement with our landlord and are being forced to close."
"We have loved being a part of your special moments -- wedding rehearsals, graduations, birthdays, and so many more," the social media post said. "Seeing your smiles and sharing our food with you has been our greatest joy, and we are grateful for the memories."
Happy Greek, which opened in the early 2000s, noted it is exploring options for a new location and encouraged customers to stay connected with the restaurant on social media for possible future updates.
The eatery's extensive menu featured a series of classic Greek dishes, like gyro pitas, chicken souvlaki, lamb kebob and various salads. Appetizers like spanakopita, spreads and dips like hummus and spinach feta, along with a selection of soup, pastas, burgers, seafood entrees and desserts rounded out Happy Greek's offerings.
