SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell man has been arrested after he allegedly parked his truck on railroad tracks during the Krewe of Titans parade, leading it to eventually be hit by a train.

According to the Slidell Police Department, the man, identified as as 45-year-old Robert King, had reportedly parked his truck on the tracks while the parade was passing at the intersection of Gause Boulevard and Front Street.

After King left his vehicle, police say he joined the parade crowd and caused a disturbance by making comments, leading multiple people to inform police officers. At that point, nobody had reported that King's truck was parked on the tracks.

Officers say they searched for King due to the reports of a disturbance. He was found multiple blocks away and detained by police for his alleged "irrational behavior." Not long after, reports told the 911 center that his truck, a GMC Sierra, had been hit by a southbound freight train. Nobody was reported to be injured by the truck being hit.

Police say they later determined the incidents to be related. King has been booked into the Slidell City Jail on one count of aggravated obstruction of a highway and disturbing the peace, with more charges expected to come.
