Tottenham will love what QPR boss said about Yang Min-hyeok’s debut
Yang Min-Hyeok made a decisive contribution in his first start for Queens Park Rangers and manager Martin Cifuentes has now given an interesting assessment of the winger on the back of his performance.
Yang Min-Hyeok delivers assist in full QPR debut
After coming off the bench to make an impact over the last few weeks, Yang was handed a start in QPR’s home clash against Derby County on Saturday.
The on-loan Spurs man played 63 minutes before making way for Paul Smyth, and he made a telling contribution, setting up the home side’s third goal in the second half as Rangers emerged with a 4-0 win.
The 18-year-old produced an impressive touch to get around the defender before picking out Ilias Chair, who turned the ball home to score QPR’s third goal.
Martin Cifuentes praises Yang after impressive display
Yang appears to have already won over the QPR faithful, some of whom called for the winger to start every game on the back of his display on Saturday.
It is not just the supporters who have been impressed by the South Korean, but also manager Martin Cifuentes, who admitted that he was pleased with the ‘brilliant actions’ that the youngster produced.
However, the Spaniard admitted that the teenager is still getting used to the demands of Championship football.
When asked about Yang‘s performance against Derby, Cifuentes said (via QPR’s official channel): “Very good, happy, there was maybe a little bit of knock on his knee, he was ok, but we felt like it was a good moment to give him a start.
“I think he did brilliant actions, of course, he needs to still adapt to our way of playing, to the pace of the league, because he comes from a very different league and kind of football.”
Yang will be hoping to get a run of starts
Yang Min-hyeok will be hoping that he has done enough to warrant a run of starts over the next few weeks so that he can quickly adapt to the demands of English football.
Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff will be keeping a close eye on the wide-man’s progress at Loftus Road before making a decision on whether to include him as a part of the first-team squad at Spurs next season.
QPR are still very much in the running for a playoff spot and the pressure associated with playing at this level will undoubtedly do a lot of good for Yang’s development.
