President Trump Dismantles Fake News Media’s Narrative for High Egg Prices: ‘I’ve Been Here for Three Weeks’

President Donald Trump immediately addressed the media’s latest fixation on skyrocketing egg prices, a crisis they’ve been quick to blame on his recent return to the White House.

As Trump arrived at Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday en route to the Daytona 500, he was immediately questioned by reporters about the record-high egg prices, a topic that has been sensationalized by media outlets looking to blame his administration.

“Well, there’s a flu. Before I got here, it was already at an all-time high,” Trump said.

“I’ve been here for three weeks. I have had nothing to do with inflation. This was caused by Biden. I had four years of virtually no inflation. So I’m just taking over. But I’ll tell you what, this country has made more progress in the last three weeks than it’s made in the last four years, and we’re respected again as a country.”

Under Trump’s first term, egg prices remained stable, with a dozen costing around $1.32 when he first took office in January 2017. However, during Biden’s tenure, prices soared.

By December 2024, the cost for a dozen Grade A eggs skyrocketed to $4.15 — a staggering near 200% increase, data from the Federal Reserve of St. Louis shows.

In a recent press briefing, White House spokesperson Leavitt faced a loaded question on Trump’s supposed role in the rising egg prices.

With poise, she turned the tables on the press: “I’m really glad you brought this up because there is a lot of reporting putting the onus on this White House for the increased cost of eggs,” Leavitt stated.

“I would like to point out to each and every one of you that in 2024, when Joe Biden was in the Oval Office or upstairs sleeping, I’m not so sure, egg prices increased 65 percent.”

“What is also that (the egg shortage) is that the Biden Administration and the Department of Agriculture directed the MASS KILLING of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore a lack of egg supply,” she added.

The Trump administration is actively addressing the issue, with White House Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett revealing plans for a resolution.

“What we need to do is have better ways with biosecurity and medication and so on to make sure that the perimeter doesn’t have to kill the chickens. We have a better, smarter perimeter. And so having a smart perimeter is what we’re working on. And we’re finalizing the ideas about how to do that with the best scientists in government,” said Hassett.

Hassett also added that there’s no reason for a widespread culling of chickens when it’s actually ducks and geese spreading the disease.
