Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter open the 'Saturday Night Live' 50th anniversary celebration
Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter opened the 50th anniversary celebration of “Saturday Night Live." The 83-year-old Simon, who has been a constant on the show since it began in 1975, was joined by the 25-year-old current pop sensation Carpenter on a duet of his song “Homeward Bound.” The pop culture juggernaut has launched the careers of generations of comedians from Steve Martin to Eddie Murphy and Tina Fey to Kate McKinnon. Many of them are on hand Sunday for the “SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration," airing live on both coasts. Much of the show's content remained a surprise as it opened.
