Cooperative banks afraid of mass withdrawals

On Thursday, the Reserve Bank of India restricted New India Cooperative Bank from issuing loans, accepting new deposits, or permitting withdrawals for six months. A day later, RBI superseded the board of directors of the bank when it emerged that there was a misappropriation of ₹122 crore.
