What Alex Bregman Asked Red Sox In Free Agency Meeting

Alex Bregman was poised to cash in when he hit MLB free agency, but money wasn’t the only priority for the star infielder on the open market.

Bregman on Sunday morning was formally introduced as a member of the Red Sox. Boston brass made it clear how badly it wanted the two-time World Series champion, who has a chance to be a perfect fit at Fenway Park.

The pairing made sense on so many levels, but Bregman still needed to do his due diligence before he put pen to paper. The 30-year-old was asked what questions he had for Red Sox representatives when he went through the free-agent process.

“Just, like, what their plans were for the future,” Bregman told reporters, as seen on NESN. “When Scott (Boras) and I started out and started talking about places we may want to go, winning was the most important. So, when they showed their vision on how this organization was going to win now and in the future, that was pretty cool.”

It probably wasn’t very difficult for the Red Sox to pitch Bregman on their future, as they have arguably the best farm system in all of baseball. And as fate would have it, the two-time All-Star will sit right next to Boston’s top three prospects throughout spring training in Fort Myers, Fla.

It’s always a luxury to have legitimate winning players in your clubhouse, and the Red Sox certainly have one in Bregman.
