Electric USA-Canada 4 Nations Tilt Opens With Epic Sequence Of Events

The marquee 4 Nations Face-Off matchup between Team USA and Team Canada at Bell Centre on Saturday night got off to an electric start.

As expected, the Canadian fans filling the seats in the Montreal arena were not exactly thrilled to hear the “Star Spangled Banner” and promptly rang boos down over the anthem singer. Things got even louder when UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre introduced Team Canada and they, of course, sang the Canadian anthem as loud as possible.

It was absolutely galvanizing, and the puck hadn’t even been dropped for the game.

You would think things would start to settle down when the game began — think again.

The roof was just about blown off when USA’s Matthew Tkachuk and Canada’s Brandon Hagel dropped the gloves off the opening face-off and had an old-fashioned slugfest.

After the Panther and Lightning made their way to their respective penalty benches, Brady Tkachuk and Sam Bennett found themselves in a tussle. That’s two fights and two Tkachuks taken off the ice in the first two seconds of the game.

Guess what? They weren’t done.

J.T. Miller and Colton Parayko decided two fights were not nearly enough in the opening frame, so they dropped the gloves in front of Jordan Binnington’s net in Team Canada’s defensive zone.

Three fights in nine seconds. You couldn’t script a more electric start for USA vs. Canada.
