Bruins’ Charlie McAvoy Launches Canada Star In 4 Nations Face-Off

Charlie McAvoy followed the lead of his teammates in the Canada-USA 4 Nations Face-Off tilt that sparked fisticuffs from the opening face-off.

The Boston Bruins defenseman embraced the physicality moments later. McAvoy lifted Canada forward and Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid off the ice and crashing into the boards.

Several Bruins rivals engaged in the early action, including prominent Florida Panthers villains Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett, who tortured Boston in the last two Stanley Cup playoff runs. McAvoy matches up against Boston teammate and Bruins captain Brad Marchand in the Saturday night matchup.

The 4 Nations Face-off continues next week in Boston with games on Monday at TD Garden and the championship game Thursday night.
