1 shot by Pflugerville PD after stolen vehicle pursuit

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An investigation is underway in Pflugerville after an officer shot a suspect following a stolen vehicle pursuit Friday.

According to the Pflugerville Police Department, at approximately 3:40 p.m. PPD officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the 1100 block of Lincoln Sparrow Cove when the vehicle collided with an officer's patrol car and stopped.

PPD said the suspect then ran and led officers on a brief pursuit.

“During the pursuit, officers observed the subject produce a handgun,” PPD said.

An officer with the department then fired their duty weapon. That officer was placed on administrative leave, per the department policy.

Officers provided medical aid to the suspect at the scene prior to them being taken to the hospital for treatment.

“A firearm with a high-capacity magazine was recovered at the scene,” the department said.

PPD said the Texas Rangers would lead the investigation.
