Columbia-Greene Community College President set to retire effective June 30

HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Columbia-Greene Community College President Dr. Carlee Drummer is set to retire on June 30. According to the college's announcement, she has been the president of the college since 2019.

"Determining to step down as the President of Columbia-Greene was quite difficult, as I have devoted my professional life to making the world a better place through education," Drummer said. "I am most indebted, however, to the Columbia-Greene students who have inspired me every day to be a better President by making certain they have the best possible learning environment that will enable them to better their lives and the lives of their families."

Through her time as president, she has spearheaded changes within the college to ensure student success, increase enrollment, expand offerings and welcome diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus. According to the college, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the college was able to rebrand, open a new technology center and bring in over $5 million in grants and donations for student support.

"The Trustees deeply value Dr. Drummer’s leadership. Given the transformative achievements during the past six years, I am confident the next President will find the building blocks in place to move the College to its next level of excellence," Peter O'Hara, chairman of the Columbia-Greene Board of Trustees said.

Drummer's legacy at the college will not leave with her. According to the college, in 2020 a Drummer Family Scholarship was created.

"I am extremely proud that the Drummer Family Scholarship endowment established in 2020 will provide financial support in perpetuity for those in need," she said.

As she retires, she plans on spending more time with her husband.
