Sirianni family reflects on Eagles' Super Bowl victory

0

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Nick Sirianni was born in Jamestown and led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory -- but behind his success is a family who's been rooting for him throughout his entire journey.

And in Western New York, there's plenty of hometown pride.

"Even when he started coaching, did we ever think this was going to happen?" said Jay Sirianni, Nick's older brother. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you we knew this was going to happen."

Jay Sirianni said the last few days have been a whirlwind of emotions after his younger brother became a Super Bowl champion.

"I'm proud of him regardless, win or lose," said Jay Sirianni. "To have the three of us as brothers, and there's a picture of us with the Lombardi trophy, I can't believe it."

The entire Sirianni family was able to attend Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. Nick Sirianni's nieces said having a Super Bowl champion as their uncle is one of the coolest things ever.

"I think after the first half I was like, oh my gosh," said Bella Sirianni. "The whole trip we were saying this feels so much different than the first time."

"I think it's really cool to see him everywhere doing the stuff he does," said Gianna Sirianni. "He amazes me."

So what is it like being related to an NFL head coach?

Jay said he often finds himself more nervous than his brother probably is. He'll pace around his house while watching every game.

He also said dealing with commentary regarding his brother can be tough.

"It's hard, especially when people say certain things about him," said Jay Sirianni. "It's really hard to take that as a family member, so I just don't listen to it. I just turn it off."

Nick's journey to the top of the NFL has been years in the making and his family couldn't be happier for all of his success. They're also looking ahead with excitement, hoping he continues to find success wherever his coaching career takes him.

"Congratulations and thank you for letting us go (to the Super Bowl)," said Bella.
