Spurs defender will not play again this season

Radu Dragusin has ended up playing more minutes than many would have expected at the start of the season. The injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have forced Ange Postecoglou to play the Romanian regularly over recent months.

However, the workload eventually caught up with the 22-year-old, who suffered an ACL injury in the Europa League clash against Elfsborg two weeks ago.

The centre-back subsequently took to social media to admit that this is one of the biggest setbacks of his career, but he assured Spurs fans that he will work as hard as possible to come back stronger.

Tottenham share Radu Dragusin update

Spurs have now confirmed on social media that the former Genoa man’s surgery to repair his ACL has been successful. Dragusin seemed to be in good spirits after the surgery as he posed for the photo by flexing his arms.

The defender now faces a long road to recovery, and he will have even more competition for his place in the side when he returns next season, with Tottenham securing the services of Kevin Danso in the January window.

Dragusin himself took to Instagram to say: “This morning, I successfully got through the surgery, which went perfectly. I am grateful to the entire medical team for their care and professionalism.

At the same time, I am thankful for all the messages of encouragement and your continuous support. It’s wonderful to feel this kind of support. I will do everything I can to ensure a smooth recovery and come back stronger as soon as possible.”

No clear timeline for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s first-choice centre-backs, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, remain out of action for the time being, with no confirmation from the club on when they are expected to return to the pitch.

On Tuesday, it emerged as many as seven Spurs first-team players are now on the cusp of being back in training, but the Dutchman and the Argentine’s name were not part of that list, which might worry some Tottenham supporters.
